This week's featured article
I hear frequent objections to using a password manager. Everything from what happens if you lose the password to the password manager itself, to what happens if the password manager gets breached.
In almost every case, the issues aren't nearly as serious as you might think, and defintely shouldn't stop you from using one.
Responses to Your Three Common Password Manager Objections has the details.
Also this week:
- At school? Using school equipment? Then yes, they can see your email. (Applies to work, also.)
- OK, so you choose to encrypt your email to prevent it from being seen. That only goes so far.
- Remember that old email account you had years ago? Unless you've been checking for new mail this entire time, it's probably long gone. Here's why.
TEH Podcast
I was off at the Pacific Coast last week, so no podcast. (Have a few photos instead?)
Windows 11
Yes, Windows 11 releases this week. Earlier than expected. My very strong recommendation: avoid it. At least avoid it until it has more of a track record. There's absolutely no compelling reason to upgrade just yet. Particularly for the change-averse, you can keep using Windows 10 at least through 2025, if not longer.
See you next week!
