Hello all!

Have I really had a 40 year career so far? When did that happen? I was discussing the future with a friend the other day, and I got a little reflective, culminating in what I'd call my single biggest piece of advice for her young son.

My reflective mood continued, albeit with a more practical bent. Love it or hate it, Windows 10 is here to stay. How do you deal with it without tearing your hair out?

It's one of my most referenced articles, because it's one of my most common questions. With a slight refresh I once again review the the security software I recommend.

On a personal note, you might recall that a couple of weeks ago I mentioned I was fighting a virus. Well, that's now transitioned to a mild case of pneumonia! As I put it on my Facebook page, it's another of life's new experiences. Yes, I'm taking the drugs prescribed and following doctor's orders. More to the point is that I'm taking it easy. That means that my response time for your questions and comments will almost certainly be impacted, as I choose to nap and get healthy instead.

I was feeling rather reflective the other day, which lead to a discussion with a visiting friend about what their young son could expect over the course of his lifetime.

Coping with Windows 10

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote what was effectively an open letter to Microsoft entitled, “Microsoft, We Deserve Better“.

The pragmatic reality is that I don't expect it, or any of dozens of similar missives posted across the internet, to have much effect. If Microsoft is listening (they probably are), they are unlikely to act on it, as their business priorities are clearly elsewhere. Even if they do act, they won't act quickly — it's no longer in their nature.

Which leaves us with a very vexing question: what the heck are we supposed to do?
