AI and your passwords

So news reports of late have drawn attention to the application of AI to password cracking. Are we doomed?

No, of course not, but the risk has increased somewhat.

Here's the deal: if you've already been doing passwords "correctly", you have nothing to fear. On the other hand, if you've been cutting corners, it might be time to re-evaluate your strategy.

Will AI Crack Your Passwords? has what you need to know.

Also this week

  • Microsoft Office subscriptions are a better deal than you realize.
  • "Unsupported software" may not mean what you think.
  • "Compromised computer" probably means more than you think.
  • "Podcasting" is kind of like old time radio for the modern age.

As always, links below.

TEH Podcast

Gary's got various smart home devices in his new home. Age verification and app banning are basically impossible. Police are recommending(!?) airtags for car theft prevention and recovery. I also reminisce about the events of exactly 40 years ago.

All that and the ever-present "more" in TEH 191: Smart homes, Blocking Utah, AirTags, Anniversary and picking locks.

Take care,

Leo
