Less Secure?

Honestly, I'm surprised this hasn't gotten more coverage. I expect that in a few days it will.

If you access Gmail using a desktop email program like Microsoft Office Outlook, Thunderbird, the Mail program in Windows, or any of a number of alternatives, and you don't yet have two-factor authentication turned on, you need to read this week's featured article.

The short version is that Google considers your email program's approach to signing in to Google to be less than secure, and will disable it soon.

This week's featured article: What Are "Less Secure Apps" and Why is My Gmail Not Working? goes into more detail, and what you may need to do about it.

Also this week:

  • Want to hide who you're sending an email to? There's a feature for that.
  • Windows Home vs. Pro: fight!
  • On the wrong Wi-Fi network? Why, and how to fix it.

As always, links below.

TEH Podcast

Gary shares some of his experience with technology while camping, and we dive into an unexpected source of in-depth news: Wikipedia!

TEH 164: Tech camping, Insecure Apps, Wiki News has all that, and the always popular "more stuff".

Here's to a peaceful, and safe, week...
