Email, that is.
I had someone ask me why, after all this time, there isn'a a common, ubiquitous secure email solution. There are many, and that's part of the problem. They tend to be convoluted, and/or incompatible with one another.
So, yes, it's important to realize that email was never really designed to be a secure form of communication -- security is more of an afterthought.
