In my reading/research for 7 Takeaways this week I came across an absolutely fascinating article: I Asked Claude Why It Won't Stop Flattering Me by Kristen French on a publication called Nautilus.
As the title implies, it's a) a "conversation" with the Claude AI chatbot, and b) it starts out addressing the reasons Claude, and presumably other AI's, love to flatter us. In reality the discussion goes much deeper, and I thought it was very insightful. It's something I recommend if you're at all interested in AI chatbots, and in particular if you're already having conversations with them.
I talk about it a tiny bit more in this week's 7 Takeaways, or you can just read the essay for yourself.
To quote Claude itself: "I have no stake in your actual well-being." That's something well worth remembering.
Have a good week,
