We're all doing online video more than ever. Be it watching various streaming videos on YouTube, streaming services like Netflix, or live streaming our latest work-at-home meeting on Zoom.
For many it's a frustrating experience. Video stops and starts, quality drops precipitously from time to time, leading many to the conclusion that "it just doesn't work".
It might not. Or there might just be something interfering. This week's featured article reviews a few of the things you should look at if you're having problems viewing online video.

DNS servers map names (like "askleo.com") to IP addresses (like 54.244.218.224). You're using one now, but you have a choice and can use others for a variety of reasons.
If you've not yet updated a machine to Windows 10, here's my advice on finding out if it's up to the task.
Finding your self signed up for some random service you didn't ask for? Leaving the wrong way can make things worse. Leaving the right way is easier, to boot.

How Can I View Online Video Without the Starts and Stops?
In the past few years, video has exploded. There are amazing statistics about the number of hours of video being uploaded to YouTube every minute. And that's just YouTube! Streaming video services have similarly multiplied, adding to the quantity of online video.
It's frustrating, to say the least, to have a video play a little, pause, play a little more, then pause, then play a little more, then pause, then play a little more.
I'll cover a few reasons and workarounds for this.

How Do I Find the DNS Server Used By My PC?
The DNS (Domain Name System) server used by your PC maps domain names (like “askleo.com”) to IP addresses (like 54.244.218.224).
Your computer could be using several different DNS servers.
I'll look at how to find which servers your computer is configured to use, and discuss a couple of situations where you might want to use something different.

How Do I Tell If My Computer Meets Windows 10 Minimum Requirements?
That's a very good question. It'd be great to know if your computer can run Windows 10 before installing, right?
What's frustrating is that even when the answer seems to be “yes” — your system appears to meet the Windows 10 minimum requirements — it may still be “no.”
So, all I can say is … “Maybe.”
Microsoft provides Windows 10 minimum requirements to determine whether or not your computer can run it. The problem is, those criteria don't always seem to be enough, or are easily misinterpreted. Even after supposedly meeting the requirements, some upgraded machines run into trouble.
I'll review the issues I've heard about and make recommendations as to what you should do.
