👍 #835 – Don’t Call Yourself Stupid

Confident Computing #835 - Don't Call Yourself Stupid

This week's articles & videos

It bugs me that I should even have to say this, but I hear it so often that it's apparently an important message you need to hear: you are not stupid.

Don't call yourself that.

Here's the kicker: simply by changing your thinking your technology will start to work better. Seriously. I know it makes no sense, yet years of experience lead me to that conclusion.

Don't Call Yourself Stupid, and things will work better.

Also this week:

  • Hacking an account is bad. Don't do it. (It bugs me that I need to say this too.)
  • Deleting duplicate files is risky. Don't do it unless you're really, really careful. Besides, there are probably better solutions to your problems.
  • A few more reasons your computer might be slowing down.
  • A reminder of exactly why it's so critical you use different passwords on different sites.

TEH Podcast

A bevy of new machines were announced by Apple last week, so of course Gary and I talked about that. I discuss some of the trials ad tribulations of getting good quality video out of my webcam. (The software you use matters! Who knew? Smile) I'm (re)reading books, Gary's watching travel shows, and we're both on TikTok -- for better or worse. (@macmost and @askleo.com)

I hope things are going well for you and that you're healthy. Please stay that way!
