One of the less pleasant aspects of doing Ask Leo! for over 23 years, and having a newsletter for nearly 21 of those years, is that occasionally a subscriber will pass away. This week I recieved news that long time subscriber Dean Simes in Australia passed away at the age of 102.
Dean was special for a couple of reasons. To begin with, he was a clear example of "you're never too old for tech". His son passed along a news report from earlier this year: At 102 years old, Dean Simes might be Australia's oldest tech-help guy. Absolutely fantastic.
Dean's also one of the few readers I've met in person. When I travelled to Australia some years ago, he joined a small reader meetup outside a Sydney Starbucks. We did capture a photo: Sydney Meet-Up.
Life's transitions are inevitable, I know, but some seem to hit harder. Dean was a wonderful example, and his is a legacy I aspire to.
