Let's resurrect the dead

So, Microsoft has decided to remove WordPad from Windows. It's not present in clean installs. It's unclear, but it certainly could disappear from existing installations after a future update.

We can get it back. It's not even that hard if you have a Windows 10 machine, or a backup image, or a few other things lying around.

Microsoft Killed WordPad. Here's How to Revive It. has the incantations required to bring it back.

Also this week

  • Available space: actual versus advertised.
  • Sector-by-sector backups.
  • Bitlocker versus Cryptomator.
  • Sending from your own domain.
  • Chat: experiments and fear.

Let's Chat ... About Experiments and Fear

In this video, I talk candidly about experimenting with technology and the fear that often holds us back. From trying out a new microphone to encouraging you to just ?click and see what happens,? I share my own real-world mishaps and how they?re part of learning. Fear of breaking something or losing data is real, but with a good backup and a little confidence, you?ll be surprised how much you can do on your own. My goal is to help you feel more comfortable exploring, experimenting, and ultimately gaining confidence with your tech.
