Scams are everywhere

I've been listening to a podcast I discovered recently, The Pefect Scam, produced by AARP. Each episode they share not just tips and tricks to avoid scams, but feature an example of a scam, a victim, and its outcome.

The stories are heartbreaking.

You may hear more from me on specific scams and avoidance techniques in the coming weeks.

This week my featured article is on a scam I see every single day, and it frustrates me no end: the account recovery scam.

The situation is this: you've lost access to an important account, and you're desperate. Someone comes along and leaves a comment on one of the account recovery videos or articles you've seen that seems to endorse a particular hacker or account recovery service. They promise that they can get your account back.

It's a trap. It's a scam. At best, you'll only lose money.

I would strongly advise you review this one: How to Avoid an Account Recovery Scam

Apple of course announced a few new things, but one that caught my attention is the ability to now officially use new AirPods as hearing aids. Everyone's wearing them anyway, so there's no stigma associated, right? The Microsoft world is kinda boring right now (Apple knows how to market, that's for sure). I also share one of my guilty pleasures. Smile

TEH 230: Apple buttons. Are AirPods hearing aids now? Windows force-upgrade.

Take care,
