It used to be simple
You want a faster computer? Get a faster CPU. Have a 333MHz machine? Double your speed by getting one that runs at 666MHz.
Simple.
Life isn't that simple these days. CPU speed can still be important, but it seems we've plateaued at around the just-under-4GHz range for some time now. The upshot is there's much more that factors into just how fast your computer might be.
Depending, of course, on how you use it.
Does CPU Speed Matter Any More? explores the details.

- Microsoft's stupid default setting.
- Upgrading your video with just a cable.

Speech to text is pretty amazing (and helpful when my carpal tunnel flares up). Movies dubbed in other languages might not be done the way you'd expect.

We'll be off a couple of weeks -- both Gary and I have some travel upcoming.
